Nana Camp at St Francis State Park

Grandchildren around a fire

I have been camping since my kids were little.  And now that they are big and having babies of their own, I get to take my grands!  I started a tradition several years ago to take all the grands camping the first weekend of August – Nana Camp!

My sisters and their kids have always gone camping with us, so of course I included them and their grands.

When I started this tradition, there were only a few grands.  Our number is increasing every year.  Between my 2 sisters and I, we now have 17 grands.

This year, we had a couple of teenagers! (we did not get photos of the teens as they were rarely seen outside the RV) The kids have to be at least 2 to go to Nana Camp.

The first years we had a lot of activities to keep them busy.  Now that they are getting older, they are either at the playground, riding bikes or we are at the river.  They are a lot more helpful now too!  Thank goodness because we are not getting younger.

We usually camp at St Francis State Park on site 2.  It is a great spot with access to the Big River nearby.  We can see the playground from our site and there is a pavilion on the site.  Plus, it is easy to get reservations at this park.

I hope we continue this tradition until I have great grands! Hopefully, my daughters will take their grands camping and I can tag along.

If you see us at St Francis State Park the 1st weekend of August, please say hi!  We love to make new friends.

Find out where else we will be and travel with us!
